How To: Pair a Yale Lock with Samsung Hub
Use Case:
1. |
In the event, your Yale lock (Lock) is Offline, it will most likely be that the Lock and Samsung SmartThings Hub (Hub) have stopped communicating. There are several ways to troubleshoot an offline lock but one of the resolutions is to "pair" them again. |

If you have an existing Hub or Lock and you have purchased the other device to onboard them on Lynx. |
3. |
You were using the competitor's software and have a compatible lock you wish to re-use. If you have not, place an order with Lynx to order the pre-programmed Hub. Upon receipt of the Hub, follow the process to pair them below. |
What You Need:
Before beginning the pairing process, you will need the following: |

1. |
Your Hub plugged into both power and an ethernet cable (or on WiFi), showing a solid green LED. |
2. |
A mobile device (phone or tablet) with the Smarthings app downloaded. |
3. |
Credentials for the Samsung account in which the Hub is configured. |
4. | Master code for the Lock. |
The Process:
Step 1: | Ensure the Hub and Lock are within 10 ft of each other. |
You can temporarily bring the Hub closer by using a longer Ethernet cable and plugging it into a socket closest to the lock. |
Step 2: | Unpair the lock/ Reset the Z-wave connection to make sure it is not paired with any other hub. |
To do this in the SmartThings mobile app: |
1. |
From the Home screen, touch Home Button at the top of the screen(☰), and select your location. If the hub is named 'Spare 1' then click the 'Spare 1' location in the list. |

2. |
Click the 'Devices' tab at the bottom of the screen |
|
3. |
Find the hub you will be connecting to the lock and tap on it. |
|
4. |
Select More Options (⁝). |
|
5. |
Touch Z-Wave Utilities |
|
6. |
select Z-Wave Exclusion |
|
7. | When you see the circle spinning, that is your confirmation that the hub in exclusion mode and you need to follow the steps below to exlcude the lock. |
Process for most Yale Locks |
a.
|
Touch the screen (only If a touchscreen lock). |
b.
|
Enter the 4-8 digit master PIN followed by the # or gear key. |
|
c.
|
Touch 7 followed by the # or gear key. |
|
d1.
|
If the lock glows red, press 3 followed by the # or gear key. |
|
d2.
|
If the lock glows blue, press 1 followed by the # or gear key. |
|
e.
|
Wait for the app to indicate the device was successfully removed. |
Process for YRD110 |
a.
|
Remove the battery cover and locate the radio button on the right side of the lock. |
b.
|
Press the radio button for 5 beeps then let go. |
|
c.
|
Wait for the app to indicate the device was successfully removed. |
Step 3: | To pair the lock, while still in the app, make sure you are in the correct location, the location should match the location the hub was added to. |
1. |
Press the " + " icon, then select Add Device. |
|
2. |
Select Door Locks (at the bottom of the screen, you may need to scroll) |

3. |
Select Yale. |
|
4. | Select Yale Z-Wave. | |
5. |
Choose the Hub the Lock is being paired to and touch Next. |
|
6. | Choose a Room e.g. Living Room and touch Next - it will take a few seconds for the Hub to search. |
Process for most Yale Locks |
a.
|
Touch the screen (only If a touchscreen lock). |
b.
|
Enter the 4-8 digit master PIN followed by the # or gear key. |
|
c.
|
Touch 7 followed by the # or gear key. |
|
d.
|
When prompted, touch 1 followed by the # or gear key. |
|
e.
|
After the app indicates that the device was successfully paired to SmartThings, click Edit to rename the Lock. |
Process for YRD110 |
a.
|
Remove the battery cover and locate the radio button on the right side of the lock. |
b.
|
Press the radio button for 2 beeps then let go. |
|
c.
|
Wait for the app to indicate the device was successfully added. |
Step 4: |
Once completed, Email Lynx Support at onboarding@getlynx.co to complete the device onboarding. Make sure to provide the property name, lock name, and the master code for the lock as well. |
