Understanding: Maintenance Notifications
The Maintenance Notifications Receipts are used to get a view of the day, showing which locks are reporting offline and if there are any affected reservations.
The message will also include when the last time the device reported offline, as well as a couple of tips to get the device back online.
Please check the section Lock Status Calculation for Daily Reports to learn how this data for daily reports is calculated
Important- Any power-connected devices like ACS or thermostats will not be included in the maintenance notifications email for potential battery issues, as expected. However, if these devices are offline they would be reported in the Online/ Offline category.
Note:- Lithium batteries are not to be used in Yale locks: Yale recommends using standard
AA Alkaline batteries, non-rechargeable batteries for their locks. Lithium and extended-life
alkaline batteries may not work as well, and you may not get alerts when your batteries are
dying or when they aren't. Using them may lead to incorrect battery percentage information
on Lynx and incorrect battery report in the maintenance email as well.
Maintenance Notifications email also comes attached with separate CSV file as per the type of device, like Hub offline, Low Battery of locks, Thermostats offline.
Example:
You can also reach out to our Support team as well if you have tried these troubleshooting steps, but the lock is still offline.
You must ensure that you add the user as a Maintenance Notification Recipient for the appropriate groups so they receive a daily maintenance alert email from Lynx automatically.
Lock Status Calculation for Daily Reports
To ensure the accuracy of daily reports, the system performs automated health checks on all connected locks every 4 hours. These checks monitor connectivity and activity data to determine if a device should be flagged as "Offline." The specific criteria differ based on the lock’s connection type.
Z-Wave Locks (via SmartThings Hub)
For Z-Wave configurations, the system evaluates both the device's connectivity and the activities on the lock over a 24-hour period. During each scheduled check, the system pings the lock to verify its status and records the latest activity data.
A Z-Wave lock will be reported as Offline if it meets either of the following conditions:
- The lock is unreachable for more than 50% of the time within the last 24 hours.
- The latest reported activity data is identical to the previous check.
Wi-Fi Locks
Applicable to: Yale, August, TTlock, Schlage Encode, and Tedee.
Wi-Fi locks are monitored primarily for connection stability. The system pings these devices every 4 hours to track availability. A Wi-Fi lock is reported as Offline if it has been unreachable for more than 50% of the time within the last 24 hours.
Lynx sents an email alert daily once in the morning at 5 AM PST, if an email is setup to receive the maintenance reports in any of the groups on the account.
