Set-Up/ Change WiFi: Samsung Smarthings Hub
If the hub is not connecting to the internet, or you have to change the internet on the device, here is the process that outlines how to do that.
Keep in mind that this process only works with the Samsung Smarthings Hub V3 (IM6001). The hub must be offline and plugged in for at least 2 minutes before starting this process.
What you will need:
- Smartthings Login information.
- Mobile device
- Paper Clip or similar tool
Make sure your mobile device is not connected to any Bluetooth devices. Bluetooth must be on, but not connected to watches or headsets. The hub should not be plugged into any ethernet devices (router or modem) to complete this process.
The Process:
Step 1: | Log into the Smarthings App and locate the hub. |
Step 2: |
Click on the three dots at the top right corner |
Step 3: | Click Information |
Step 4: |
Click 'Update Wifi Information' |
Step 5: | The next screen will ask you to get the hub to blink yellow. (Do not reset the hub) |
To do this, you need to hold the reset button down using a paper clip until you see the hub blink Yellow 4 times. On the 4th blink, you can let go of the reset button. If done correctly, you should see the light on the front of the hub, and start blinking yellow consistently. (If you hold the reset button for longer than 30 seconds it will reset the hub and the lights will blink red and green. Please do not reset the hub) |
|
Step 6: | The next screen will show you a prompt that will have you scan the QR code on the bottom of the hub. Make sure to 'Join' any network that the app asks you to. |
There have been instances where the 'Update WiFi Information' button is not available. If this happens then you will have to reset the hub to connect it to the wifi.
