Benefits of using this guide

- Reduced Inquiries: Proactively addressing code lengths and symbol requirements decreases troubleshooting calls to your support team.
- Consistent Operations: Understanding that codes are uniform across all user types simplifies your access management and operational workflows.
Access Code Details
- Valid Code Lengths: Every Dormakaba access code generated by Lynx is exactly 6 digits long. The system does not utilize lengths ranging from 6 to 12 digits for these locks.
- Code Patterns by User Type: Access codes follow the same structural pattern regardless of the user type. The access codes are the same for owners, guests, or any other user profile.
-
Symbol Usage (* and #):
- Star (*) Symbol: No access codes will ever require or include the * symbol.
- Pound (#) Symbol: The # symbol is exclusively used for Early Check-in access codes and Common Lock access codes. Standard room access codes do not use the # symbol.
- Mandatory Physical Keypad Entry: If a guest is assigned a code that includes a pound (#) symbol (e.g., for early check-in), they must manually press the # button on the physical lock keypad. Entering only the 6 digits without the assigned # symbol will cause the code to fail.
Key Features
- Uniform Code Length: The standard 6-digit format guarantees reliable entry and prevents users from needing to memorize excessively long sequences.
- Specialized Symbols: Targeted use of the # symbol helps systems seamlessly identify when a guest is accessing a common area or utilizing an approved early check-in window.
- Keypad Accuracy: Requiring the physical entry of generated symbols ensures secure handshakes between the code provided and the lock's assigned permissions.
