How to: Reset Yale Lock
Here are the steps for resetting a Yale Lock, these steps are for the YRD216 version of the lock:

Remove the battery cover from the lock. Then remove the batteries and the screws holding the lock on the door, so that you can access the reset button. Press a key on the keypad to ensure there is no residual power in the lock. |
2. | Press the reset button, and keep it held down. |

With the reset button held down, reinsert the battery to reapply power. Keep the button held down for another 30 seconds. You will know that the reset is going through because the keypad will be flashing. After 30 seconds, you can then release the reset button. Wait for the startup sound before removing the batteries to reattach to the door. |

Reassemble the lock. Make sure that all the connections are nice and sealed. Remember, performing a factory reset will have the lock behave as if it were powered on for the first time ever, which means you will now have to set the Master Code |

Set the Master Code - Now that the lock has been reset it will operate the same way it did when it was first opened. Enter *Gear* 1 *Gear* New Master Code *Gear* *Gear* |
