How To: Update Wi-Fi Connection on Yale Direct Wi-Fi Locks
Yale's Direct Wi-Fi module enables a connection to the internet (and Lynx) without the need for an external hub, but the process to update the Wi-Fi details on these locks is slightly different from previous models. You can perform the steps below to update and test these locks' Wi-Fi connection.
Note: Locks using August/Yale Connect integrations MUST be connected to a
dedicated 2.4GHz network. You can find more information and connection tips at:

Steps to update the Wi-Fi connection details on Yale Wi-Fi direct module:
Step 1: |
Connect your device to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network that you want to connect the lock to. |
Step 2: | Log into the Yale Access or August Connect app with the account that the lock is connected under. |
Step 3: | From the "Home" or "Keychain" screen, select the location with the lock you need to update. |

Click the "Settings" button ("gear" icon) in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Step 5: |
Click the "Lock Settings" button. |
Step 6: |
Scroll down and click "Switch Wi-Fi Network".

Step 7: | Follow the prompts to select the new Wi-Fi network and input the password. |
Step 8: | The app will indicate that the Wi-Fi credentials are updated and the lock is online. Follow the steps to test the lock in Lynx. |
Steps to test the Wi-Fi signal quality on Yale Wi-Fi direct module:
After connecting a Wi-Fi Direct lock to the property's wireless network, you'll want to check the quality of the signal the lock is receiving. Follow these steps to check the lock's Wi-Fi signal strength:

Download the Yale app for your device and log into the appropriate account. |
Step 2: | From the "Home" screen, select the lock you would like to check signals for. |
Step 3: |
Click the "Gear" button in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Click the "Lock Settings" button.

Scroll to the bottom of the menu list and click "Wi-Fi signal".

Step 6: |
View the received signal level reported by the lock.

Step 7: | Repeat steps 5 - 6 with the door open as well as closed. Signal levels can increase or decrease drastically when the lock is moved just a few feet. |
