How To: Set Up Humidity Threshold Smart Rules

What are Sensor Smart Rules?

You can optimize the value of smart sensors installed at your rental properties using Smart Rules in the Lynx Portal. This article explains how to set up a "Humidity is Over High Threshold" Smart Rule to alert staff and/or guests when a sensor detects a humidity level above a specified threshold.

Note: Smart Rules can only be created under Groups, not for individual properties - but you can create Groups for almost any purpose you can imagine, including properties which have sensors installed, those in a geographic region, or even for properties which need a specific set of Smart Rules. The Process:

Step 1:	Visit the "Groups" tab on the Left side menu of the Lynx portal.

Step 2:	Click the gear (settings) icon for the group you want to create/edit rules for - this will open the Smart Workflows/Smart Rules configuration page

Step 3:	Click "Smart Rules" on the left side of the page

Step 4:	Click the "+" button to open the "Add a Smart Rule" window

Step 5:	Create a name for the new Smart Rule

Step 6:	Select the "Humidity is Above High Threshold" option from the "When" drop-down menu. This will update the UI depending on which option is chosen.

Step 7:	Configure basic trigger settings: High Threshold: Choose the humidity level that will trigger the Smart Rule Maximum Alerts In A Day: Specify the maximum number of notifications that will be sent daily for a single property if the humidity level remains above the threshold. After the maximum number of alerts is reached, the Smart Rule will not send another notification until the next day. Alert Interval Time: Specify the length of time between alerts. The Smart Rule will wait this length of time before sending another notification if the humidity level remains above the threshold.

Step 8:	If you have a smart thermostat installed and connected to Lynx, you have the option to automatically change the thermostat settings when the humidity level reaches the specified threshold. This allows you to use property's HVAC system to bring the humidity level down. You can configure the following options: Change Thermostat Settings: Choose whether to update the thermostat settings when the specified humidity level is reached. Temperature Unit: Select Fahrenheit or Celsius. Mode of Thermostat: Select whether to set the thermostat to Heat, Cold, Off, or (for models that support it) Auto mode. Heating Setpoint: Select the minimum temperature. When "Heat" or "Auto" mode are selected, the thermostat will attempt to engage the heater until this temperature is reached. Cooling Setpoint: Select the maximum temperature. When "Cold" or "Auto" mode are selected, the thermostat will attempt to engage the air conditioning until this temperature is reached. Applicable Stay Type(s): When integrated with a supported PMS, Lynx can restrict a Smart Rule to only trigger when the specified stay types are current.

Step 9:	Configure options to notify the guest, or check the "Do Not Notify Guest" check-box if you do not want to alert the guest when the humidity level is exceeded. You can select the following options: Notify via Email, SMS, or both Message Subject/Body: You can customize the message sent to the guest using your own text, and use Messaging Tags to dynamically insert data about the guest, property, and/or stay Applicable Stay Type(s): When integrated with a supported PMS, Lynx can restrict a Smart Rule to only trigger when the specified stay types are current.

Step 10:	Configure options to notify a Lynx user (usually a property manager or other staff member). You can select the following options: Notify via Email, SMS, or both Message Subject/Body: You can customize the outgoing message using your own text, and use Messaging Tags to dynamically insert data about the guest, property, and/or stay

Step 11:	When you are finished configuring the Smart Rule, click the "Add" button.
