Set Up: Samsung Smartthings Hub
The placement of the Hub is critical to ensure the Lynx App, Hub and its paired devices (the Lock, Sensors, Lights, etc.) are able to communicate effectively.
Onboarding Pre-purchased Devices:
If you already have devices that you want to onboard request a Samsung Login from Lynx support@getlynx.co Lynx will NOT onboard Samsung devices added to non-lynx email IDs.
The DOs:
Check Labels, Find the Pairs: |
Lynx sends pre-programmed devices. Find the Hub, Lock, Thermostat, and Sensors that belong to the property you will be installing. All devices have labels indicating your property name. Do not break pairs. |
Distance: | After you plug in the power and ethernet cords, you should see a green light. Blue means an internet connectivity issue. The distance between the Hub and any of its paired devices (like a lock or a sensor) should be 25ft or less. |
Line of Sight: |
Place the Hub in the direction of the lock i.e. the "green" light of the Hub should be facing towards the lock. |
Green Light: | After you plug in the power and ethernet cords, you should see a green light. Blue means an internet connectivity issue. Contact your Internet Service Provider to resolve internet issues. |
Switch to Wi-Fi | The best place for the Hub is the power socket closest to the Lock (if the Lock is the only paired device) or the centre of the room (If it has a lock and sensors). To achieve this, Switch the Hub to Wi-Fi so you don't have any dependency on the Ethernet Routers. |
Power Cycle: | To fix the Hub offline issue, try the power cycle. Unplug the power cord, wait for 30 seconds and plug the cords back. |
The DONTs:
Reset Hub: | Never Reset the Hub. If you reset a hub, it will lose all its paired devices and communication to Lynx. You will need to set up the hub again, extra 30-45 mins in the field. If you reset the hub by mistake, contact support@getlynx.co for your Samsung login information. Do NOT create your own Samsung login. |
Wi-Fi Router: | Don't place the Hub near or next to the Wi-Fi router. |
Walls, Metal, Water: | Concrete walls, water bodies, and metal objects weaken the signal strength. Avoid them as much as possible. |
Non-Lynx Samsung Login | Lynx will NOT onboard Samsung devices added to non-lynx email IDs. No personal emails, no individual company emails either. Request a Samsung Login from Lynx. Email support@getlynx.co |
Before you leave, Test the install. |
